Into the cleanroom with new electrification solutions

Servomold, a specialist in the electrification of injection molds, is expanding its portfolio of components for performing linear movements in cleanroom production with servo-electrically driven, ultra-precisely controlled linear actuators. The company will be presenting an overview of the possibilities this offers, for example for demolding plastic parts for medical technology, at Molding Expo (May 6 to 9, Stuttgart/Germany, stand 6E50 in hall 6) and at KUTENO (May 13 to 15, Bad Salzuflen/Germany, stand 20B17). The focus will be on the linear actuators of the recently launched SLA-Compact series and the ultra-precise SLY core pulling systems.

Servomold has developed the servo linear actuators of the new SLA Compact series, which significantly reduce the size while maintaining the same forces as the previous series, for the long-term reliable, 100% precise and powerful execution of linear movements in injection molds. Powerful, clean and oil-free, they are ideal cleanroom-compatible alternatives to traditional hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders for translatory slide, core or platen movements. They are available at short notice in performance classes from 4 kN to 50 kN, with different motor and spindle configurations and completely in stainless steel.

The SLY core pulling systems, presented for the first time at Fakuma 2024, are designed to guide, center and position slides and cores in the injection mold with µm precision. Servo-electrically driven and equipped with minimum quantity lubrication, they meet the basic requirements of manufacturers of sleeve-shaped components such as housings and cartridge holders for auto-injection systems. The main part of the slide guide is integrated into the SLY concept and positioned outside the mold frame. This can reduce the overall mold dimensions by up to 45% compared to conventional designs. The space-saving arrangement of the motor and spindle between the guides also contributes to this. The compactness enables the cost-cutting use of smaller injection molding machines with the same number of cavities, and it reduces the need for expensive tool steel while lowering production costs. Precision bores with special fine centering ensure that the slide bodies are positioned with µm accuracy, eliminating the need for time-consuming adjustment work during installation. Assembly time is reduced to just a few hours and the precision guaranteed by Servomold is maintained even after maintenance or disassembly work without the need for readjustment.

At Molding Expo 2025 and KUTENO 2025, Servomold will also be showcasing SMC (Servo MoldControl), a new generation of control systems for servo drives, whose touch panel has just won the IF Design Award and the Red Dot Award. Highlights include intuitive operation and automatic switching between different position encoder systems

Both trade fair presentations will also focus on the portfolio of cost-efficient, standardized servo system components. In addition to servo-electric single to quadruple unscrewing units and worm gear drivers for unscrewing threads, this also includes ready-to-use, complete unscrewing halves, powerful servo drive units, space-saving, integrable index plate turners, thread core sets and rotating thread core cooling systems for unscrewing units.
