Jak wynika z najnowszego raportu stowarzyszenia AVK, w roku 2023 odnotowano znaczny, 8% spadek produkcji materiałów kompozytowych i wzmocnionych włóknem polimerowym w Europie, co stanowi wyraźny kontrast z 5% wzrostem rynku światowego.

The "HyFiVE" project, in which experts from the SKZ Plastics Center in Halle (Saale) played a key role, came to an end at the end of December. The project provided groundbreaking insights into the adhesive-free joining of metal and fiber-reinforced plastic components, which will benefit the shipbuilding industry in particular.

5-axis CNC machining of carbon components

Refitech Composite Solutions has made a major innovation leap by installing a new 5-axis CNC machine for the finishing of composite components. This is in addition to the 3-axis machining centres the company already has in operation. The new machine will allow the machining of even more complex 3D shapes to be carried out fully automatically, with high speed, high quality and reproducibility in view of series volumes.

First kitchen products made from wood-based plastic

Orthex, a leading Nordic manufacturer of durable household goods, is the first company to launch durable products made of cellulose-based Woodly® plastic. Until now, Woodly has become known for its environmentally friendly product packaging. The joint project between Orthex and Woodly to utilise wood-based plastic in kitchen boxes is a new development area, combining the core competencies of the two Finnish companies.

Innovative all composite IO

Supported by Refitech Composite Components and its German partner CG TEC, Whitecane from Duderstadt, Germany, has developed the all composite IO white cane. Due to the ergonomic thin-walled carbon grip and composite tube, the IO is extremely lightweight, making the it easy to handle while improving sensory perception. The design also features a patented yield mechanism, that reduces the risk of injury due to a collision or a caught cane, and is complimented with a lightweight GEO rolling tip.

ENGEL AUSTRIA is one of the winners of the JEC Innovation Awards 2020. Together with its partner FILL, the machine manufacturer and system solutions provider has received the award in the category Process for the development of a production line for the manufacture of tailor-made composite blanks. SGL Carbon serially delivers composite materials for rotor blades to Airbus Helicopters

Since August of this year, SGL Carbon delivers two special glass fiber textiles, so-called non-crimped fabrics, for the new version of helicopter model H145 from Airbus Helicopters. These materials are used in the new, especially efficient five-blade rotor. Developed in close collaboration with Airbus Helicopters, the material has been qualified for the application for the next years to come.
