Polykemi Group’s latest sustainability report shows the biggest CO2e savings to date. The results are driven by increased use of recycled materials and measurable material choices through the Materialsmart® concept. The report also details the company’s goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2030 and the current progress toward that target.
Danish Urban Water Retention (UWR) developed an innovative modular system, assembled like Legos, to manage stormwater and prevent flooding in urban settings. The material used in the modules is a customized recycled PP from Polykemi and Rondo Plast, developed to meet tough specifications and enhance the product's sustainability profile. The system won an award in its category at the 2025 Aquatech Innovation Awards in Amsterdam.
High-quality recycled-based plastic materials performs equivalently to virgin-based materials in moulding tools designed for virgin plastics. This is the experience of Polykemi’s customer Simoldes Plastics, a supplier to Stellantis, VW Group, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, BMW, Toyota, Scania and Mercedes-Benz. Tests and evaluations have also shown recycled materials to have surprising properties that may revolutionize our perception of recycled plastics.
In a unique collaboration, the Swedish manufacturers Morakniv, Alleima, Rondo Plast (Polykemi Group) and TK Pac have come together to develop a knife that is largely made from recycled material. The Morakniv Basic 546 knife will receive a sequel, an alternative for the environmentally conscious craftsman who appreciate Swedish-made quality tools. The new Basic 546 SE was presented at Nordbygg at the Stockholm Fair on April 23.
A new investment allows Polykemi and subsidiary Rondo Plast to handle completely new material sources and thus help suppliers and customers increase their recycling ratio even further – a big win for both the climate and the economy.
The Polykemi Group’s fifth manufacturing unit was inaugurated in April, making North America Polykemi’s third continent with in-house production. In conjunction with the inauguration of the new plant in Gastonia, subsidiary Polykemi Inc. also celebrated its 10th anniversary with food, music and a guided tour for the around 100 invitees.
The Swedish compounders, HEXPOL TPE AB and Polykemi AB, have collaborated on a 2K sustainable development project for consumer products.
