Lindner @K 2025: Ready for the future

At the K 2025, Lindner will be making the most of its exhibition space – spread across Hall 9, Stand B17/19, and the outdoor area CE02 – showcasing trailblazing technologies and new products to process waste plastics. The spotlight will be on first-class recyclate quality, energy efficiency, maximum flexibility, smart process optimisation along the entire value-added chain, and – a world first in mechanical recycling.

Lindner Washtech: New Leadership Team

In the autumn of 2013, Harald Hoffmann together with Manuel Lindner, owner of the Lindner Group, founded Lindner Washtech. Hoffmann’s vision of designing complete solutions for processing plastics – initially under his sole leadership – led to the company becoming one of the key stakeholders in plastics recycling, and to a partnership with the Erema Group since 2023. In January 2025, Georg Krenn took on the sole management of Lindner Washtech. Harald Hoffmann remains a permanent part of the company, contributing his expertise in the role of Senior Advisor Global Sales.

Arburg wins three "Gold" and one "Silver" award

Arburg with its sister companies AMKmotion and ARBURGadditive were nominated in four categories in the "Product of the Year 2025" competition organized by the trade publications "Kunststoff Magazin" and "Industrial Production". Over 3,300 readers voted and gave the Arburg Group's products excellent ratings: First place went to the Allrounder 720 E Golden Electric in the Production category, the "aXw Control RecyclatePilot" control function in the Peripherals category and the ihD5 servo inverter in the Drive Technology category. In addition, grippers that were 3D printed on demand came second in the Workplace and Equipment category.

Circular Valley Convention 2025

The circular economy relies on reuse, recycling, and innovative business models extending product life cycles. In this way, it helps conserve resources, protect the environment, and mitigate climate change. At the same time, it supports companies in increasing their sustainability, efficiency, and competitiveness. Good reasons, therefore, for the topic of circular economy to take centre stage by gathering all players in one place: at the Circular Valley Convention, which will celebrate its premiere on 12 and 13 March 2025 at Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf.

Servomotor-driven Edge Trimming System

Hellweg Maschinenbau’s new, individually controllable R 200/20 Servo edge trimming system brings flexibility to the shredding of extrusion edge strips. Touchscreen control enables processors to adapt this step to production conditions and so optimize it for the specific application. Jointly developed with BREYER Extrusion, this new machine complements the extensive range of systems, also known as guillotines or chippers, from this global manufacturer of digitally controlled shredding machines for effective, energy-saving plastics recycling.

POWERFIL receives PRAE 2024

At PRSE in Amsterdam, the DischargePro control system from EREMA's POWERFIL business unit was presented with the Plastics Recycling Award Europe in the "Recycling Machinery Innovation of the Year" category. The smart technology for the EREMA laser filter improves process stability over the entire operating period and reacts automatically to fluctuations during the recycling process.

Bottle-to-bottle recycling plant

For Indian preform and plastic packaging manufacturer Magpet Polymer Pvt Ltd, Coperion and Herbold Meckesheim are collaborating technologies in construction of an entire plant for bottle-to-bottle recycling from a single source. In addition to mechanical processing of used PET bottles, the recycling system encompasses all process steps leading up to extrusion with a ZSK twin screw extruder, including pelletizing and an SSP (Solid State Polycondensation) reactor.

It’s a tough situation, calling for courage

At annual conference of the trade associations of plastics and rubber machinery, waste and recycling technology, EMINT, and the project group for hybrid lightweight technologies, Ulrich Ackermann, Head of VDMA Foreign Trade, addressed the geopolitical changes and their impact on the mechanical engineering industry: "The globalisation of the world economy is coming under increasing pressure. China is placing its focus on autonomy, resulting in knock-on effects for the European mechanical engineering industry, and in the US, the Biden administration has continued the "national approach" of the Trump government's trade policy in recent years. As a result, the world is heading towards a new bipolar world order." For the European mechanical engineering industry, this means the need to have its own production facilities in large target markets and being able to offer market-specific products. Many plastics and rubber machinery manufacturers have already adapted in that regard.

25 million tonnes of recycled pellets every year

The EREMA Group, based in Ansfelden near Linz, Austria, closes the financial year 2023/24 with total revenues of EUR 380 million. A joint venture with the Lindner Group sees the group of companies expand its portfolio to include washing technology. EREMA Group GmbH now has eight subsidiaries: EREMA, PURE LOOP, PLASMAC, KEYCYCLE, Lindner Washtech, UMAC, plasticpreneur and 3S.

Spotlight on Product Innovations

At this year's IFAT, Lindner demonstrated its innovative strength, comprehensive range of applications and flexibility with three new products. Solutions included the production of substitute fuel, the processing of waste wood and scrap metal and both the mechanical and chemical recycling of plastics. Merak – the new universal genius from Lindner – scores highly with its sophisticated cutting and drive concept. The result: an extensive range of particle sizes, materials and applications. Additionally, the new Alcor stationary twin-shaft shredder with a synchronous cutting unit demonstrates high performance and application versatility. In terms of ease of maintenance and servicing, the new screw-on blade holder concept for the Komet series is also a must.

At IFAT 2024 (13-17 May, Munich, Germany) Coperion and Herbold Meckesheim will present innovative product and process solutions that make the recycling of plastics markedly more efficient and increase the product quality achieved.

New ZSK FilCo Filtration Compounder

For recycling of post-consumer recyclate (PCR) or any highly contaminated polymer, Coperion has developed the innovative ZSK FilCo filtration compounder that allows filtration and compounding in a single production step.

Mission PET

Scarcity of resources, environmental pollution, and global warming, call to rethink new ways to work towards a sustainable economy. The solution is a Circular Economy, in which waste is used as a valuable source of raw materials. As far as plastics are concerned, the EU has already set the recycling targets: plastic waste should be reusable or recyclable in a cost-effective manner and thus become valuable secondary raw materials. The prerequisite for a wide range of possible uses of the recyclates is that the starting material is sorted and free of impurities.
