In addition to its ISO 9001 certified quality management system and its ISO TS16949 for automotive suppliers, GRAFE now fulfills the requirements for a sustainable energy policy. GRAFE has introduced the energy management system in order to significantly improve the company’s energy efficiency over the coming years. With this step, the company wants to achieve continual optimization of its energy performance and an appropriate balance between energy consumption and finished products.
Prerequisites for the certification are clearly defined strategic and operative goals as an integral part of the company’s energy policy. The TÜV Rheinland audited the company over several days and was able to certify that it met all requirements for energy-conscious business practices, efficient use of raw materials and energy savings in all departments. The independent inspection agency will be conducting annual audits to check compliance with the standards, which are monitored in internal audits by the energy manager in cooperation with his energy team.
With the introduction of the energy management system, GRAFE is now able to systematically monitor the distribution and consumption of its energy, and at the same time to identify, utilize and continually improve potential energy savings so as to enhance sustainability.
„It’s the future that matters to us. We’re not interested in how things were done in the past but how they can be done in the future“, explains Managing Director Matthias Grafe.
“In order to achieve our ambitious goal of significantly improving energy efficiency in the coming years, we are pursuing the potential of untapped energy efficiencies, and striving to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, for example CO2 emissions, and to minimize the other negative environmental effects of energy consumption.”
In the future, the company will focus on more than just energy and cost-saving measures. New investments in plant and machinery will be implemented with an eye to improved energy-efficient solutions. “Energy efficiency is already a very important consideration in the application of plastics”, explains Matthias Grafe. „With the introduction of an energy management system, we not only want to improve our profitability, but to raise awareness for an improved utilization of resources”.
Our numerous business partners can be assured that GRAFE will continue to focus on the topic of systematic energy savings well into the future.
