The episode, to be broadcast in German, will focus on the circular economy and the recycling of plastics. Rather than being dismissed as waste products, plastics should be seen as valuable raw materials that "make things happen". They are indispensable in many industries – just think of medical technology, for example. Gerhard Böhm, Managing Director Sales and Service, and Bertram Stern, Arburg’s Sustainability Manager, will be joined by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Josef Endres, Head of the Institute for Plastics and Circular Economy (IKK) at Leibniz University Hannover to discuss the potential for plastic to contribute to protecting the environment in the future.
Taking a practical approach: recyclate processing and circular economy
Transmission will then switch to Arburg’s headquarters in Lossburg, where Christian Homp, Team Manager Applications & Industries, will introduce viewers to a number of applications in which Arburg is using recyclates to build a functioning circular economy. These include projects such as R-Cycle and HolyGrail, which take an innovative approach to identifying plastic products and recycling them by type, as well as machine-specific solutions which are already in active use, including the retrofittable recyclate package for all Allrounders.
