Sharp innovation for the future

In a unique collaboration, the Swedish manufacturers Morakniv, Alleima, Rondo Plast (Polykemi Group) and TK Pac have come together to develop a knife that is largely made from recycled material. The Morakniv Basic 546 knife will receive a sequel, an alternative for the environmentally conscious craftsman who appreciate Swedish-made quality tools. The new Basic 546 SE was presented at Nordbygg at the Stockholm Fair on April 23.

Plastics Compounding and Recycling

At this year’s Chinaplas (23-26 April 2024, National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), Hongqiao, Shanghai, PR China) Coperion will present key technologies for processing plastics at Booth F 106 in Hall 2.1. The centerpiece of the exhibits will be the STS 75 Mc PLUS twin screw extruder with its increased specific torque of 13.6 Nm/cm³ which allows the STS extruder to achieve up to 20% more throughput with markedly higher product quality.

EREMA sets standards in PET recycling

The bottle systems made by the Austrian recycling machine manufacturer have 25 years of proven experience on the market. Almost half of the bottle systems shipped in the past three years have been installed in Asia. The production of food contact compliant rPET is becoming increasingly important there - also in the textile industry. EREMA impresses with the highest quality standards and not only easily undercuts the strict limit values of the European and North American authorities for food safety recognised worldwide, but also meets the specifications of global brands. MEAF first food grade R-PET Lithuania

By mating its energy efficient sheet extrusion lines with Kreyenborg’s IR-CLEAN Super-Clean process for post-consumer recycled PET, MEAF Machines can now offer its customers a cost effective alternative for the production of FDA/EFSA approved single layer PET food grade sheet. A first R-PET extrusion line combining the two, has recently been installed at Pack Klaipėda UAB in Klaipėda, Lithuania, for the production of meat packaging. The line is also suited for the production of PP trays without alterations, providing the customer with even more flexibility.

Meraxis and Fortum: distribution of recyclates

The Swiss trading group Meraxis and the Finnish company Fortum Recycling & Waste (Fortum) are deepening their existing cooperation with a strategic partnership. Meraxis will distribute Fortum recyclates throughout Europe. The offer includes PP, HDPE and LDPE recyclates as well as customized re-compounds. Through this cooperation, Meraxis is expanding its product range of recyclates and can thus offer its customers an even larger portfolio of sustainable material alternatives to prime material.

Mission PET

Scarcity of resources, environmental pollution, and global warming, call to rethink new ways to work towards a sustainable economy. The solution is a Circular Economy, in which waste is used as a valuable source of raw materials. As far as plastics are concerned, the EU has already set the recycling targets: plastic waste should be reusable or recyclable in a cost-effective manner and thus become valuable secondary raw materials. The prerequisite for a wide range of possible uses of the recyclates is that the starting material is sorted and free of impurities.

Recycling Innovation Center is Up and Running

Coperion has successfully launched operation of its new Recycling Innovation Center. In this high-tech test center for plastics recycling applications, every recycling process step – from material handling and feeding to extrusion, compounding, pelletizing, material postprocessing and deodorization – can be tested. Extensively equipped recycling systems are available that can be modified in myriad ways, depending upon the specific requirements of the recyclate to be produced.

Production of recyclable spout pouches

SN Maschinenbau and SÜDPACK have entered into a developmental partnership to create an innovative overall concept for the in-house production of stand-up pouches with spouts designed for packaging pasty and liquid products. The concept is intended for food producers and fillers who have up to now been using pre-made spout pouches and will be presented for the first time at the international trade fair Prod&Pack in Lyon from November 21 to 23, 2023 (hall 6, booth J75).
