Recycling Innovation Center is Up and Running

Coperion has successfully launched operation of its new Recycling Innovation Center. In this high-tech test center for plastics recycling applications, every recycling process step – from material handling and feeding to extrusion, compounding, pelletizing, material postprocessing and deodorization – can be tested. Extensively equipped recycling systems are available that can be modified in myriad ways, depending upon the specific requirements of the recyclate to be produced.

Production of recyclable spout pouches

SN Maschinenbau and SÜDPACK have entered into a developmental partnership to create an innovative overall concept for the in-house production of stand-up pouches with spouts designed for packaging pasty and liquid products. The concept is intended for food producers and fillers who have up to now been using pre-made spout pouches and will be presented for the first time at the international trade fair Prod&Pack in Lyon from November 21 to 23, 2023 (hall 6, booth J75).

Opracowując takie oparte na faktach wytyczne, RecyClass dostarcza przemysłowi gotowe rozwiązania poprawiające możliwość recyklingu opakowań z tworzyw sztucznych.

Recykling wpływa na decyzje zakupowe

W nowym badaniu przeprowadzonym przez firmę Amcor 52% europejskich konsumentów sugeruje, że wpływ opakowań na globalne ocieplenie wpływa na ich decyzje zakupowe, a 84% szuka pisemnych instrukcji dotyczących recyklingu przed zakupem zapakowanego produktu.

Strong growth for the recycling & circularity

Installed plastic recycling capacity of flexible polyolefins experienced a notable growth of 8% from 2018 to 2020, reaching a total of 2.7 million tonnes with estimated 200 recycling facilities, according to the latest study[1]. This capacity comprises of a large number of small to medium plants, averaging 10,000 tonnes, with the biggest facilities reaching over 40,000 tonnes.

Recykling powlekanych kartonów po napojach

Dzięki wspólnej, wynoszącej ok. 29 mln. EUR inwestycji firm Tetra Pak i Stora Enso w Polsce rozpoczyna działanie nowa linia do recyklingu kartonów po napojach. Pozwoli ona potroić moce przerobowe recyklingu wspomnianych opakowań w kraju z 25 tys. do 75 tys. ton w skali roku. Zapewni możliwość przyjęcia całego wolumenu kartonów po napojach sprzedawanych w Polsce, a także dodatkowych wolumenów z sąsiednich krajów, w tym Czech, Węgier, Słowacji, Łotwy, Estonii i Litwy.

Partnerstwo Clariter i Makpol Recykling

Być może w Polsce także powstanie instalacja recyklingu chemicznego. Clariter Poland oraz Makpol Recykling ogłosiły podpisanie strategicznej umowy o współpracy, znacznie przybliżającej Clariter do rozpoczęcia działalności komercyjnej w Polsce. W ramach tej współpracy Makpol będzie dostarczał surowce odpadowe z tworzyw sztucznych do przyszłego zakładu produkcyjnego Clariter w Polsce, zapewniając bezpieczeństwo dostaw dzięki optymalnej mieszance surowców.

Recycled polystyrene as safe food contact material

Styrenics Circular Solutions (SCS), the value chain initiative to realise the circular economy for styrenic polymers, today confirmed having submitted a notification of a ‘novel technology’ under the new EU regulation 2022/1616. The technology ensures the safe use of rigid recycled polystyrene (rPS) as food contact material behind a functional barrier, in a so-called ABA structure. The notification aims at the immediate and continued availability of safe rPS produced with that established technology, under the stringent conditions and supervision foreseen by EU law.

Tube of the Year 2023

The election of the winners of etma’s competition "Tube of the Year 2023" and the presentation of the winning tubes took place in Amsterdam at the end of May 2023. The annual conference of the European Tube Manufacturers Association (etma) and the third World Tube Congress, which was organised by etma and attracted a lot of attention, provided a suitable setting for the award ceremony. A jury of seven representatives of etma member companies selected the winners in the categories of aluminium tubes, plastic tubes, laminate tubes, sustainability and prototypes. Beyond the borders of Europe, etma’s competition is regarded as a recognised yardstick for the performance of the industry and as an internationally valid benchmark for creativity, innovation and quality all around flexible tubes.

Sink marks can be avoided to a large extent, minimizing rejects even if there are high demands on surface quality. At the same time, foaming has no effect on recycling behaviour. Hence, the recyclability of the plastics in the materials cycle is maintained.
