The new coinjection process, which ENGEL has developed in cooperation with Top Grade Molds, enables high and completely encapsulated recycled material content in the production of pails and is thus superior to conventional processes for sandwich injection moulding. The new process will fully demonstrate its advantages in the production of 5-gallon pails during the ENGEL live e-symposium 2021 from 22 to 24 June. Very short cycle times are achieved in combination with the new ENGEL duo speed injection moulding machine.
Processing plastic flakes directly
With a new process, ENGEL makes it possible to process plastic waste as flakes in injection moulding directly after grinding. Since a complete process step, pelletising, is eliminated, the innovation significantly improves cost efficiency in plastics recycling. At its live e-symposium 2021 from 22 to 24 June, ENGEL is presenting the new two-stage process to a trade audience for the first time and demonstrating its great potential. The new process also offers benefits in the production of very large and thick-walled components with high shot weights.
ENGEL care packages
ENGEL supports its customers in the maintenance of injection moulding machines and linear robots with six individually configurable maintenance packages. Processing firms benefit from the ENGEL service engineers' comprehensive expertise to maximise machine availability and reduce maintenance costs.
New duo speed
The new duo speed injection moulding machine sees ENGEL combine productivity and efficiency with short cycle times in the high clamping force range. Available with clamping forces from 5,000 to 11,000 kN, the new large-scale machine type is aimed at manufacturers of buckets and storage and transport containers.
ENGEL is BEST Supplier of Brose
Brose has added ENGEL AUSTRIA to its exclusive group of strategic suppliers. In doing so, the automotive supplier has shown its appreciation of the performance which ENGEL products offer. This step also underlines the exemplary cooperation in the development of lightweight engineering solutions.
First live e-xperience
True passion, real innovation, virtual experience – this was the message which ENGEL put out for the first edition of the ENGEL live e-xperience in mid-October 2020 – and ENGEL was true to its word. Several thousand customers, partners and interested parties from 90 countries took part in the virtual trade fair and online conference. The keynotes, expert talks, one-on-one meetings and machine exhibits in the virtual showroom were very well attended throughout all four live days. All presentations are still available from the media library.
Reducing pressure for success
ENGEL is providing detailed information on all aspects of structural foam moulding at a three-day online conference from 17 to 19 November 2020. For the first time, the traditional foammelt conference will be a virtual event. Conceived as a free event, this is a wonderful opportunity for anyone looking to get started with structural foam moulding. foammelt experts will also benefit from taking part. The conference is geared towards plastics processors and mould manufacturers as well as developers and design engineers. The conference languages are German and English.
Whether it is the cycle time, energy consumption or process stability: the levers for greater efficiency and quality in the injection moulding process are many and varied. Two things are important to exploit the full potential: in-depth knowledge of the injection moulding machine and extensive experience in application technology. ENGEL's application engineers have both. The new ENGEL performance.boost sees ENGEL offer its customers this punch-packing expertise as a service for process analysis and optimisation.
Compact, flexible, cost-effective
In October 2020, ENGEL is presenting the next generation of its all-electric e-mac injection moulding machine series in a challenging application for the manufacture of pipette tips. Offering maximum flexibility for individual customer requirements, the e-mac is now even more compact.
ENGEL out participation in Fakuma 2020
ENGEL will not actively participate in the Fakuma in the usual manner this year. The board of management made this decision considering the unforeseeable further development of the Corona pandemic.
Together against Covid-19
The demand for test swabs for nasal and throat swab tests will continue to grow strongly due to Covid 19. Injection moulding machine manufacturer ENGEL AUSTRIA and Hack Formenbau are jointly committed to ensuring the global supply of test swabs. By providing an integrated system solution and process technology consulting, they are helping plastics processors to launch high-volume production of two-component test swabs with a short lead time.
Tailor-made thermoplastic composites
ENGEL AUSTRIA is one of the winners of the JEC Innovation Awards 2020. Together with its partner FILL, the machine manufacturer and system solutions provider has received the award in the category Process for the development of a production line for the manufacture of tailor-made composite blanks. With its high degree of integration and automation, the innovative solution combines highest quality with great cost effectiveness and paves the way for the high-volume production of thermoplastic composite parts.
Packaging with a Future
ENGEL is committed to greater sustainability of plastic packaging. In collaboration with six other companies from the Austrian packaging industry, the injection moulding machine manufacturer founded the "Verpackung mit Zukunft” (Packaging with a Future) platform. The aim of the initiative is to improve public awareness of meaningful use of packaging. The companies are taking an active role in the development of a global circular economy for plastic packaging.
Face masks in record time
Together with business partner Haidlmair, ENGEL is committed to improving the supply of face masks worldwide. In record time, mould maker Haidlmair developed and implemented a new mould solution for the production of reusable masks, which is now being used by plastics processing companies worldwide. ENGEL is delivering injection moulding machines geared for this, also in record time.
ENGEL at JEC World 2020
The main component of the production cell, which is producing demonstration components made of continuous fibre-reinforced polyamide (PA), is a tie-bar-less ENGEL victory 200/50 injection moulding machine equipped with an ENGEL viper 12 linear robot for handling preforms and finished parts, and a double-sided, vertical ENGEL IR oven. It is provided by Brightlands Materials Center in Geleen, Netherlands, which is dedicated to the development of innovative and sustainable material solutions meeting tomorrow’s societal challenges. Lightweight Automotive is one of three major shared research programs the international R&D center is focusing on building on its partnership with ENGEL.
Reactive unit now available in two sizes
In-situ polymerisation opens up great opportunities in the production of fibre-reinforced plastic components with a thermoplastic polyamide matrix. Based on dry reinforcement textiles, polymerisation and moulding are combined, enabling particularly efficient and automated processes in series production, for example, in lightweight automotive engineering. The decisive factor for processing efficiency and product quality is the reactive unit developed by ENGEL specifically for the preparation and injection of ε Caprolactam. ENGEL has systematically further optimised its solution with a new, smaller size.
Caprio joins ENGEL
With the beginning of the new year, ENGEL North America welcomes Paul Caprio as president. As of January 2, 2020, Caprio is managing the sales and service subsidiary of the Austria-based injection molding machine builder together with CEO Mark Sankovitch.
ENGEL at Interplastica 2020
At Interplastica 2020, from January 28th to 31st in Moscow, Russia, ENGEL AUSTRIA is showing how the smallest batch sizes can be efficiently and cost-effectively realised in injection moulding. The injection moulding machine manufacturer and system expert, headquartered in Austria, is presenting a highly integrated, assistance-supported production cell, a fully automated solution for the very fast switch of mould inserts. ENGEL guides its customers towards networked, self-optimising injection moulding production with inject 4.0.
