B.IRD Machinery Takes Off

Companies in the plastics-processing industry must make their operations more efficient, avoid material losses and, at the same time, reduce energy consumption. At K 2025, it became clear which concepts can support these efforts. Many trade visitors had B.IRD Machinery Stricker GmbH’s infrared solution firmly on their agenda. They came specifically to the stand of the family-owned company from Aachen to learn more about its infrared rotary-drum technology. Demand was so strong that several machines were sold directly at the fair.

At K 2025 in Düsseldorf, WIS Kunststoffe will showcase how a modern circular economy is already a reality in today’s plastics processing industry. K 2025: MOCOM

From October 8 to 15, MOCOM will showcase its comprehensive product portfolio at K 2025 in Dusseldorf. The spotlight will be on materials for lighting, lightweight construction and sustainable applications. At Hall 6, Booth A62, visitors will discover innovative and sustainable thermoplastic compounds from the brands Alcom, Altech, Alfater, Tedur, Wic, Wiplast and Wipaflex. These products provide flexible and sustainable solutions for the automotive, electrical & electronics (E&E), sports and leisure, transportation industries as well as for many other sectors.

With global plastic production soaring to almost 450 million tonnes annually, small variations in polymer quality can quickly cascade, leading to scrap, downtime or even recalls. Here, Stephanie Williams, senior product specialist at materials testing giant Instron explores how melt flow testing helps ensure consistency and efficiency in polymer processing.

New additive solutions at K 2025

At K 2025, BASF will showcase the evolution of its VALERAS portfolio, highlighting how its additive solutions and services are enabling sustainability across the plastic lifecycle. First introduced at K 2022, VALERAS has developed into a robust platform that addresses plastic circularity, durability, and carbon transparency.

High Performance Additives

At K 2025, Brüggemann (www.brueggemann.com) will present its expanded range of performance-enhancing additives for polyamides and polyolefins, for the first time together with its Italian subsidiary Auserpolimeri, which has been fully integrated since 2022. The focus is on innovative developments that enable lighter and more complex designs, meet specific requirements in the E&E and e-mobility sectors, or make recyclates usable in demanding applications, even at elevated temperatures. These include highly efficient flow enhancers, thermostabilizers and impact modifiers as well as an innovative additive that is used to achieve thermoset-like performance especially during thermal treatment while keeping the thermoplastic processing for applications such as polyolefin foams, HFFR compounds and cables.

WICKERT at the K 2025

Under the motto “Your Partner for Presses and Automation”, WICKERT will present itself at K 2025, October 8–15 in Düsseldorf, as a full-service provider of customized automation solutions for hydraulic presses. At booth 14A41 in Hall 14, the company will showcase its extensive expertise in the fields of composites, rubber, friction, plastics, and powder processing – including cleanroom solutions.

Promix Solutions at K 2025

At the K trade fair in Düsseldorf from October 15 to 19, Promix Solutions will be presenting solutions for mixing, foaming and cooling for the plastics industry in Hall 9, Stand E18. The focus is on raw material savings with the Microcell Technology and real-time monitoring and process control with the Visco-P inline viscometer. The inline viscometer is now available with a closed control loop for connection to a dosing device. This enables fully controlled raw material management depending on the viscosity measured in the production process, such as for example the control of the IV value in PET processing.

Precision meets moisture control

Labotek and Movacolor have joined forces and developed an innovative solution to address the need for drying additives. The result is the MDS Balance Drydose. This new system is a one-of-a-kind system that combines efficient material drying and precise additive dosing in a single, compact unit.

Polykemi, Rondo Plastt, Scanfill receive ISCC PLUS

Recently, Polykemi, Rondo Plast, and Scanfill had their ISCC PLUS certifications for recycled mass-balanced plastic raw materials confirmed. The certifications apply to their facilities in Ystad, Sweden, giving all of Europe access to certified high-quality recycled plastic materials. The certification process has been an essential step in the ongoing development towards increased sustainability and reduced carbon footprint.

ECI Group’s HPPE technology for new plant in China

ECI Group, a world leading technology licensor and engineering services provider for the polymer industry, announced a contract award from Ningbo Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company Limited (NZRCC) for a 200kta EVA/LDPE Plant using ECI Group’s proprietary hy-brid reactor technology. This award marks a total of 1 million tonnes of nameplate capaci-ty licensed by ECI Group since they began licensing their technology in 2021.

Flood protection made from recycled plastic

Danish Urban Water Retention (UWR) developed an innovative modular system, assembled like Legos, to manage stormwater and prevent flooding in urban settings. The material used in the modules is a customized recycled PP from Polykemi and Rondo Plast, developed to meet tough specifications and enhance the product's sustainability profile. The system won an award in its category at the 2025 Aquatech Innovation Awards in Amsterdam.

The Future of Pharmaceutical Packaging

With PharmaGuard®, a PP-based, recyclable blister packaging solution, SÜDPACK MEDICA paved the way for greater sustainability in the pharma-ceutical industry. But that was just the beginning. Röchling Starts 17-Million-Euro Construction Project

The leading plastics processor Röchling Industrial is investing over 17 million euro in the expansion of the Xanten site. In several construction phases, the site will be extensively expanded and modernised by 2030 to drive further growth and strengthen the company's market leadership. As a competence centre for moulding, the site specialises in the development and production of large and complex moulded parts made of thermoplastics and composite materials.
